paper bag-artist statement.

Artist Statement.

In my piece the paper bag is repeated and overlapped over itself three times. I wanted to show the fluidity within change. As a reoccurring theme in my work change is an elusive subject . You do not figure out that you have changed until it has happened, I have felt this way many times. I’ve change so much in the last couple years, most people have. I went from a super conservative school environment to something completely open, and so my perspectives and ideas changed. Looking back on it now I see where the changes took place, but while it was happening? Not at all. Which is why I made the piece overlap, and made it very fluid. Change is graceful. Its sneaky, and no matter how much you do change, you are always the same taking a different form. Which is why the bag takes on many different forms.

I chose to use warm base colors and cool colors to bring out values.  I also chose a neutral environment because I thought it would accommodate the subject and the meaning. The medium is aquarelles, watercolor pencils. Which I used in various ways to create the effect that is happening in this piece. This piece is especially natural to me because change is a subject I deal with a lot, but experimental because I was working with a new media, and a new way of showing change. By changing the way I’m working I’m connecting with my idea on a whole new level.

DONE !!!!!

its about change and such as is most my work. i like the fluidity so there

Trying out aquarelles (colored pencils that can be used wet like a water color) and I'm starting to like them quite a bit
